A native of Red Bank, New Jersey, Matthew Bent has established himself as a creative, versatile drummer. His diverse sensibilities have granted him work with distinctive artists such as Claude Bennington’s Fever Dream, Homeless & Moses Rockwell, his ABC Trio, Ben Britton, Rita Collective, The Michael Delgado Trio, Eastman New Jazz Ensemble, K’za Lee, The Jon Seiger All Stars, and most recently his pop/soul group, The Saplings. As a student of Rich Thompson, Professor of Drum Set at The Eastman School of Music, Bent further explored the evolution of jazz and other musical styles.
Bent recently finished his Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz & Contemporary Media with certificate in the Arts Leadership Program at The Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. At Eastman, Bent was the drummer for The Eastman Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Bill Dobbins. Now, he performs regularly in the Rochester area as he continues to develop his own voice.
